Fragment is the sister project to Exploration. Looking into the way that we see the world around us, as short glances and half seen sections compiled into a completed image in our heads, was the starting point of this series. Through making this split apparent through framing and split composition with each section a different negtive allows the space to be explored in different layers. If you step back then the whole image comes together into a single picture, come closer and the image comes apart into individual images. Within the completed images there are blurred, distorted or missing parts, simulating the incompleteness of the experience and how our mind can fill the gaps of what we expect to be there.

The Fragment series takes this idea and puts it into the context of our interation with the manufacured landscapes of film. The project is based on recreated stills from films, but incorperating into the image where pictures usually stop, showing the lights, stands and the edges of the sets. This reinterpretation of the constructed narrative of the film is through an interest in our interpretation of the medium of film as how we think about seeing the world.

The pictures are all large compositions, the smallest being 2.5m across.
